Why These Pillow Works

Over 71 million people snore. Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder that was unknown and untreated a few decades ago (Dasheiff & Finn, 2009). It is defined as repetitive airway obstruction that causes breathing to stop temporarily (obstructive sleep apnea, OSA). Rather than vibrating together, the soft tissues collapse and completely block all airflow. The blockage can last from 10 seconds to a minute. People that suffer from Sleep Apnea may be chronically sleep-deprived and/or be starving their brain for oxygen. The body begins to struggle for oxygen, and this struggle can result in rousing the sleeper, completely waking the sleeper, or, in the worst cases, suffocating the sleeper. Snoring, daytime sleepiness and decreased cognitive functioning are the main symptoms (Shochat & Pillar, 2003). Even mild sleep apnea causes symptoms and can lead to adverse effects. Treatment is available and leads to improved outcomes (Brown, 2007).

Mr. Rubio's patented pillow is a "natural" therapy that employs the use of God's natural Law of Gravity. It has been well-documented and widely accepted that by elevating one's upper-body during sleep and sleeping on your side, you are much less likely to snore.

Dr. Arie Oksenberg, Dr. Donald Silverberg, Dr. Elena Arons, and Dr. Henryk Badwan published research entitled Positional vs Nonpositional Obstructive Sleep Apnea Patients in 1997. They state that "some patients have succeeded in lowering their total [number of respiratory disturbances] to normal by merely sleeping on their sides and it has been estimated that this type of therapy alone could be successful in treating about 50% of all OSA cases." If these estimates are true, this would make our Comfort Lift SideSleeperDelight™ an effective treatment for many people that suffer from OSA. We are currently working with an institutional sleep center to conduct clinical studies that will validate these estimates.

If left untreated, Sleep Apnea can cause cardiovascular problems, glaucoma, diminished libido, obesity and increased risk in developing diabetes. If snoring is left untreated, high blood pressure, morning headaches, and relationship difficulties can result from it.
